"We wanted to put Carlos Boozer in a pick and roll," said James. "We knew he didn't really want to foul. I came off a screen and said to myself, I'm either going to go all the way to the basket or I'm going to get fouled and go to the free throw line."
With 4.9 seconds remaining, Redd hit a pair of free throws to make it an 89-86 affair.
The Jazz had one more possession, but Gordan Giricek missed a contested three- pointer with four seconds left and Matt Harpring came up short on an open triple in the final second.
Utah shot just 40 percent from the floor.
