NBA Game Summary - Utah at Milwaukee

(Saturday, January 8th)

Final Score: Milwaukee 89, Utah 86

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Michael Redd scored 26 points to lead Milwaukee over Utah, 89-86, at the Bradley Center.

Marcus Fizer added 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Bucks, who have won three straight on the heels of a three-game slide

Carlos Boozer netted a game-high 28 points for the Jazz, who dropped their ninth straight. Since a somewhat respectable 8-5 start, the Jazz have lost 19 of their last 22 games.

The Bucks trailed the majority of the game, but went ahead 87-86 with just 20.9 seconds left on a layup by Mike James.

"We wanted to put Carlos Boozer in a pick and roll," said James. "We knew he didn't really want to foul. I came off a screen and said to myself, I'm either going to go all the way to the basket or I'm going to get fouled and go to the free throw line."

With 4.9 seconds remaining, Redd hit a pair of free throws to make it an 89-86 affair.

The Jazz had one more possession, but Gordan Giricek missed a contested three- pointer with four seconds left and Matt Harpring came up short on an open triple in the final second.

Utah shot just 40 percent from the floor.

The Jazz ended the first quarter on a 10-1 spurt. Mehmet Okur capped off the burst on a basket with nine seconds left in the frame to give Utah a 22-18 edge.

In the second, the Bucks cut the deficit to one six different times but could never draw even. Utah closed out the frame by scoring 11 of the final 17 points to take a 43-37 edge into the intermission.

Utah also led the entire third and took a 67-58 advantage into the final 12 minutes.

Game Notes

Bucks memorabilia was auctioned off during the game, including artwork by Desmond Mason and autographed pairs of Michael Redd and Toni Kukoc's game shoes, for the victims of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia...Utah has fallen in four of its last five trips to Wisconsin.
