NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Milwaukee

Final Score: Milwaukee 97, New Jersey 74

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Mike James and Joe Smith each netted 17 points, Desmond Mason added 16 and Milwaukee routed New Jersey, 97-74, at the Bradley Center.

Michael Redd scored 13 points and dished out eight assists for the Bucks, who snapped a three-game slide. Erick Strickland contributed 10 points off the pine.

"It was a great game for us tonight," said Redd.

Jabari Smith scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting for the Nets. Richard Jefferson added 16 points with 11 boards and Vince Carter contributed 15 points for New Jersey, which has dropped two straight and four of six.

"We have to put forth an effort on the defensive end," said Nets guard Jason Kidd, who ended with 12 points in the setback.

The Nets are just 7-8 since the All-Star guard's return to the lineup.

The Bucks, who never trailed throughout, led 22-21 after 12 minutes of action. Milwaukee then took control of the contest during the opening stages of the second. The Bucks started the frame with a 16-2 flurry, capped by Kukoc's tip- in, stretching the margin to 38-23 at the 7:27 mark.

New Jersey, though, fought back and cut the deficit to 53-44 as both teams headed into the locker room. Jefferson led the Nets with 12 points, while Joe Smith paced the Bucks with 13 points at the break.

Heading into the fourth, Milwaukee carried a 74-63 edge, sealing the game with a huge burst to start the frame.

"I thought we did a great job of competing and playing hard tonight," said Milwaukee head coach Terry Porter.

James' basket ignited a 21-6 run to start the final stanza. He later ended the burst with a three, making it 95-69 with 4:12 left in the contest. James accounted for seven points during the surge as the Nets never recovered from that point on en route to the 23-point loss.

"We have to stay focused," said Carter. "We are not shooting the ball very well."

Game Notes

Prior to the game, Milwaukee cut veteran guard Kendall Gill and guard Eddie House, and activated Kukoc and Daniel Santiago off the injured list. Kukoc ended with two points in 24 minutes, while Santiago played just two minutes and went scoreless...James has now scored 15 or more points in four straight games...The Nets made 14-of-16 from the line, while Milwaukee finished 24-of-34...The Bucks shot a scorching 53 percent from the floor, while New Jersey shot a dismal 34 percent.
