NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Memphis

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki finished with 32 points and 18 rebounds to lead Dallas to a 98-85 win over Memphis at the FedExForum.
Jerry Stackhouse contributed 20 points for the Mavericks, who earned their second straight victory. Erick Dampier finished with a season-high 16 points and eight rebounds before fouling out.
"This was a game we had to come in here and win," said Dallas head coach Don Nelson. "We didn't have a particularly good first half, but I thought we dtepped it up in the second half."
Mike Miller posted 20 points and seven assists for the Grizzlies, who suffered their third consecutive loss and fell to 0-2 under interim head coach Lionel Hollins. Pau Gasol delivered 16 points and 13 boards, while Bonzi Wells posted 15 points.
Hollins replaced Hubie Brown, who quit due to health concerns.
Josh Howard added 12 points and seven rebounds for Dallas, which used a 17-1 run in the second half to overcome a 73-63 deficit. Stackhouse converted one of two free throws with 3.9 seconds left in the third quarter to force a 74-74 tie.
Terry scored four straight points, and Dampier followed his miss with a dunk with 8:51 to play in the fourth to put the Mavericks ahead 80-74.
Memphis got within 80-76 on two foul shots by Gasol 18 seconds later, but no closer.
"The key was our defense in the second half," said Dallas guard Jason Terry. "We had to play solid defense and run down every rebound."
The Grizzlies went ahead 10-6 on a basket by Battier with 8:45 remaining in the first quarter.
A turnaround jumper by Dampier, 4:30 later, forced a 17-17 tie for the Mavericks. They went ahead 20-19 on a three-point play by Nowitzki less than a minute later.
Wells -- who scored 13 points in the initial 12 minutes -- hit a three-pointer with 14.8 seconds left in the first to put the Grizzlies ahead 30-27 at the end of the quarter.
A dunk by Lorenzen Wright 3:12 into the second quarter capped a four-point flurry and put Memphis ahead 37-32. It led 41-33 on a jumper by Jason Williams with 7:44 left in the second.
Nowitzki, who posted 16 points and eight boards in the first half, hit a fadeaway with 2:56 left in the quarter to get the Mavericks within 51-47. They trailed 58-51 at halftime.
Battier hit a running jumper 1:05 into the third quarter to stretch the Grizzlies' lead to 62-53.
A dunk by Nowitzki midway through the third got Dallas within 66-63. Then seven straight points by Memphis, including the final five from Miller, pushed the lead to 73-63.
Terry registered 10 points for the Mavericks, who improved to 15-3 all-time on the road against the Grizzlies...Williams notched nine points and six assists for Memphis...Dallas has won 15 of the last 17 games in the series...Grizzlies forward Stromile Swift missed his third straight game with a scratched cornea.
