NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Indiana

(Thursday, November 25th)

Final Score: Indiana 106, Minnesota 102

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Jamaal Tinsley had a tremendous all-around game with 20 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds and five steals to lead the undermanned Indiana Pacers over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 106-102, at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Austin Croshere collected 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Pacers improved to 2-1 since losing Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson to suspensions. Fred Jones made some key baskets down the stretch, scoring seven of his 17 points in the fourth quarter.

"I went out there tonight and tried to keep pressure on them at all times," said Tinsley. "This meant pushing the ball up the floor, getting it in the paint and getting a good shot, or maybe dishing it off."

Kevin Garnett had 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the way for the Timberwolves, who were also short a man with the early morning arrest and subsequent team suspension of center Michael Olowokandi.

Olowokandi spent Wednesday night in jail after police needed a stun gun to get him to leave a nightclub in Indianapolis.

Troy Hudson scored 19 in Minnesota's second consecutive loss of the year and sixth in seven tries versus Indiana. Wally Szczerbiak and Latrell Sprewell chipped in 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Down by 10 with two minutes left, Minnesota threatened a comeback and cut the deficit in half with five straight points.

Croshere converted both of his opportunities from the line with 36 seconds to play for a 100-93 advantage, but Fred Hoiberg's three just two ticks later made it a four-point difference.

"These guys (Indiana) came out and played a hell of a game," said Minnesota coach Flip Saunders.

Hudson had a golden opportunity to draw Minnesota within three, but he failed to complete a three-point play with 27 seconds to go. The Wolves still kept coming hard until time just simply ran out on them.

The Timberwolves trailed by as much as nine in the first half, but they closed out the second quarter with a 13-5 spurt to get within 47-45.

Indiana quickly rebuilt its lead to 13 with a 12-1 burst out of the halftime gates. Croshere capped the rally with back-to-back threes, staking his team to a 59-46 cushion just 2 1/2 minutes in.

Eddie Griffin's jumper early in the fourth narrowed the gap to 79-73 before Jones returned from the bench to provide a spark and keep Minnesota at bay.

He had a thunderous dunk, a pair of free throws and a trey in a span of 90 seconds to keep the Pacers ahead, 86-78, with 8:43 remaining.
