NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Denver

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Greg Buckner poured in a career-high 28 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 110-82 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at the Pepsi Center.

Carmelo Anthony contributed 21 points, six boards and six assists for Denver, which has won three in a row. Kenyon Martin collected 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who overcame a 17-point deficit in the first half.

"I can't simply say enough about the effort of Greg Buckner," said Denver head coach Jeff Bzdelik. "When he was on the floor, we were a plus-36 and minus- eight when he was off."

Devin Harris paced Dallas with 15 points and five assists. Jerry Stackhouse had 14 points for the Mavericks, who have dropped two of their last three games after beginning the season 7-1.

Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki suffered an ankle injury late in the second quarter and did not return. He finished with 11 points in 18 minutes of action.

The Nuggets were clinging to a four-point lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Denver then scored 19 of the final 26 points of the period to take a commanding 86-70 lead after 36 minutes. Earl Boykins, Bryon Russell and Buckner all hit three-pointers during the decisive run.

The Nuggets continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter, building the margin to as many as 30 points at 110-80 on Rodney White's jumper in the closing seconds.

"The team's confidence rises after a win like this," said Buckner.

The Mavericks closed the first quarter with a 21-5 spurt to grab a 33-18 advantage after 12 minutes. Stackhouse had eight points and Nowitzki added seven during the run.

Dallas then received a basket from Erick Dampier to begin the second quarter and appeared to be in control with a 17-point lead.

However, Denver responded with a 29-10 burst, keyed by eight points apiece from Buckner and Anthony, to move in front 47-45 with 2:51 left in the period.

The Nuggets eventually carried a 55-49 advantage into the locker room. Buckner ended the first half with 18 points, while Nowitzki led the Mavericks in the opening 24 minutes with 11.

Martin has recorded a double-double in three straight games...Josh Howard chipped in 12 points and six rebounds for Dallas...White finished with 11 points, while Boykins netted 10...The Nuggets were 6-of-15 from beyond the arc, while the Mavericks made just 1-of-9 shots from three-point range...Denver has won three of the last four meetings between the two teams.
