Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki scored 15 points with 12 rebounds, Josh Howard added 13 as Dallas routed Atlanta, 90-68, at AmercianAirlines Center.
Jason Terry scored 12 and Erick Dampier chipped in with 10 to go along with 13 boards for Dallas, which has won four of six. Marquis Daniels contributed 11 points off the bench as Dallas shot 34-of-83 from the floor in the rout.
"We had to get back to the way we were playing early on in November on the defensive end," said Terry.
Antoine Walker netted 13 against his old team on 6-of-15 shooting for Atlanta, which has dropped five straight and 15 of its last 17 overall. Walker also grabbed a team-high 11 boards in the loss.
"We gave up too many points in the paint," said Walker.
Predrag Drobnjak contributed 11 points, while Josh Smith blocked a career-high 10 shots in a losing cause.
Dallas scored 16 of the game's first 19 points to take an early 16-3 lead en rout to a 27-12 advantage after one quarter of action.
The Mavericks stretched their lead to 18 midway through the second frame. Nowitzki's slam staked Dallas to a commanding 40-22 lead with 4:57 left in the first half.
Dallas then carried a 51-28 advantage as both teams headed into the locker room. Nowitzki's 11 points led all players, while Drobnjak's seven paced the Hawks at the break.
The Mavericks continued to pour it on in the third, outscoring the Hawks by a 26-17 margin to put the game away. Heading into the fourth, Dallas owned a commanding 77-45 cushion and never looked back.
The closest the Hawks would get was at 84-64 on Harrington's dunk with 3:50 remaining in the contest.
Walker spent just one season in Dallas and then was dealt to Atlanta for Terry...Dallas improved to 8-6 at home this season, while Atlanta fell to 2-9 on the road in 2004...The Mavericks improved to 13-3 when it allows under 100 points this season...Atlanta finished 0-for-8 from beyond the arc...Dallas played without forward Jerry Stackhouse, who was out with a sore right hand..The Mavericks grabbed a season-high 57 rebounds...137 U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan sat in front-row seats. The soldiers from Brooke Army Medical Center near San Antonio were flown in as part of a thank- you campaign thought up by a Dallas season-ticket holder, with more than $150,000 in courtside seats donated by fellow season-ticket holders. The soldiers -- all wearing matching T-shirts and many with their injuries quite apparent -- received a standing ovation after the first quarter.
