NBA Game Summary - Denver at Boston

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony drained an 18-foot jumper with 3.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift the Denver Nuggets to a 100-99 victory over the Boston Celtics at the FleetCenter.
Anthony finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Andre Miller collected 19 points and seven boards and Kenyon Martin chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Denver, which snapped a two-game skid and won for the 11th time in its last 15 contests.
Marcus Camby had 16 points and 11 boards in the win.
Paul Pierce paced Boston with 31 points. Ricky Davis ended with 18 points for the Celtics, including 13 in the fourth quarter. Mark Blount netted 13 points and Gary Payton contributed 11 points and 10 assists in the loss.
Davis scored the first six points of the fourth period to give the Celtics a 79-77 lead. Boston increased its advantage to 89-83 on McCarty's layup with 7:34 remaining.
The Nuggets then went on a 13-2 burst, ignited by Camby's three-point play, to move in front 96-91 with 3:12 left.
The Celtics battled back and cut the deficit to 98-97 on a pair of free throws by Payton with 35.8 seconds remaining.
After Anthony missed a turnaround jumper, Pierce was fouled at the other end and made both attempts from the stripe to put Boston ahead by a point with 10.7 seconds left.
On Denver's next possession, Anthony used a screen to free himself and nailed the jumper to win it for the Nuggets.
"We just couldn't get the key stop," said Boston head coach Doc Rivers. "We knew what was coming with that last play with Carmelo but we just didn't execute our defense very well."
The Celtics had one final chance, but Pierce misfired on a shot under heavy pressure.
Boston used an 8-2 run in the first quarter, keyed by six points from Blount, to take a 21-16 lead. Later in the period, Pierce's three-pointer staked the Celtics to a 26-22 advantage.
Denver then scored the final two points of the stanza and proceeded to open the second quarter with a 15-1 burst to grab a 39-27 lead. Earl Boykins had five points during the spurt.
The Nuggets still led by 12 at 44-32, before Boston closed the period with a 9-4 run to pull within seven at the intermission.
Miller ended the first half with 16 points, while Pierce led Boston in the opening 24 minutes with 20.
The Celtics continued to chip away in the third quarter and finally regained the lead at 65-64 on Pierce's driving layup with 4:34 remaining in the period.
Boston was in front 68-66, but Denver scored 11 of the final 16 points of the stanza and held a 77-73 advantage after 36 minutes. Anthony drilled a pair of three-pointers and totaled 10 points during the late surge.
Denver halted a seven-game losing streak at Boston and won for only the second time in its last 12 contests versus the Celtics...Boston had a two-game winning streak snapped...Raef LaFrentz pulled down 15 rebounds for the Celtics.
