NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Memphis

(Friday, November 12th)

Final Score: Memphis 96, Golden State 67

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Pau Gasol scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Memphis over Golden State, 96-67, at FedEx Forum.

Jason Williams added 12 points and five assists for the Grizzlies, who won two straight after starting the season with four consecutive losses.

"We had 17 blocks, and 13 of those were before the half," Grizzlies' coach Hubie Brown said. "I thought everybody helped each other out tonight and got out on the break well. We were 12-18 off the break, and the blocked shots did a great job of setting those up."

Eduardo Najera netted a game-high 16 points off the bench for the Warriors, who are still winless through six games. The last time the Warriors lost six in a row to start a new season was in 1997-98, as they opened with nine straight losses.

Troy Murphy posted 15 points and 12 boards in the loss.

Memphis only led by four after the opening 12 minutes, but outscored Golden State 32-17 in the second quarter to take a commanding 51-32 lead into the intermission.

In fact, it was just a three-point advantage for Memphis midway through the second, but the Grizzlies mounted a 16-2 run to push the lead to 17. Mike Miller capped off the burst on a bucket with just under three minutes left in the frame to make it a 46-29 contest.

The game was never close in the second half as the Grizzlies led by as many as 32.

Golden State only shot 28 percent from the field (25-91) and lost the battle on the glass, 62-46.
