NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at New York

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Stephon Marbury had 21 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds to lead the New York Knicks over the Los Angeles Clippers, 110-96, at Madison Square Garden.
Jamal Crawford added 19 points for the Knicks, who have won two in a row to even their record after four games this season. Crawford and Marbury combined to shoot 12-of-24 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range and 12-of-14 from the line. New York had a total of six players score in double figures and shot 50 percent from the field.
Tim Thomas tallied 15 points, Mike Sweetney chipped in with 14 points and nine boards, and Jerome Williams had 12 points for New York, which recorded a season-high in points scored. Anfernee Hardaway rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11, as the Knicks will embark on a tough four-game road trip beginning on Saturday.
Corey Maggette had a game-high 29 points for the Clippers, who have alternated wins and losses in six games this season. Elton Brand added 20 points and nine rebounds for Los Angeles, which never led and fell to 1-1 on a three-game road trip.
Leading 82-72 late in the third quarter, the Knicks bridged the final two quarters with a 10-0 spurt to grab a 20-point lead. Williams' basket early in the fourth capped the run, giving the Knicks a 92-72 cushion.
New York continued to press after that, extending the lead to as many as 21 points, 98-77, when Sweetney converted a basket with three minutes gone in the quarter.
The Knicks, who committed 21 turnovers in a win over Philadelphia on Tuesday night, turned the ball over 17 times in this contest. However, for a second straight time, the club forced 20-plus miscues by an opponent. The Clippers committed 22 turnovers after the Sixers had 28 in a 96-88 loss at MSG.
"We didn't do anything right tonight," said Maggette. "I think the turnovers is what really killed us."
New York ended a three-game homestand 2-1 and will travel to Indiana Saturday before doing a Texas three-step to round out the trip. New York will visit San Antonio, Houston and Dallas before finally coming back to the East Coast.
The Knicks led by as many as 13, 33-20, in the first quarter and went into the second ahead 35-26. The Clippers drew within eight points, 44-36, with six minutes left until halftime, but New York answered with a 7-0 run to take a 51-36 lead. Sweetney hit a pair of free throws to cap the burst and the Knicks cruised into halftime ahead 60-48.
"Anytime you go through a struggle it's always important to get yourself going," said Thomas, who has had problems scoring this season. "It seems like the lid is closed, but that's not going to stop me from shooting and being aggressive. The difference is tonight the lid opened up."
Chris Wilcox finished with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Clippers, who have dropped three straight and 16 of 19 in New York.
LA ends a three-game road trip on Saturday in Chicago...Newly named New York Mets manager Willie Randolph was in attendance...The Knicks went 26-of-29 from the free throw line...Bobby Simmons had 10 points for the Clippers, who are 2-2 on the road this season...This was the Knicks first wire-to-wire win since January 10, 2004 against Milwaukee.
