NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at Sacramento

(Tuesday, December 7th)

Final Score: Sacramento 109, Charlotte 92

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Peja Stojakovic netted a game-high 30 points to go along with 12 rebounds as the Sacramento Kings outlasted the Charlotte Bobcats, 109-92, at ARCO Arena.

Brad Miller posted 27 points and eight rebounds for the Kings, who won their fifth straight game. Darius Songaila chipped in 17 points and 11 boards in the victory.

Steve Smith totaled 16 points off the bench for Charlotte, which lost in double overtime to the Clippers on Monday and is still searching for its first road victory in the franchise's brief existence. Emeka Okafor tallied 10 points and 15 boards in the losing effort. The Bobcats are 3-4 in their last seven overall.

Star forward Chris Webber sat out for Sacramento with a sore left knee.

"The guys who have played without Webber knew what to do," Miller said. "Peja got a lot of rebounds, Darius made a lot of great plays, and I shot a lot of free throws."

Charlotte jumped out to a surprising 28-22 lead after one quarter of play, but the Kings roared back in the second.

When Songaila hit from the lane at 9:35, the contest was tied up at 30 apiece. From there, the Kings captured 16 of the next 27 points and grabbed a 46-41 edge on a Matt Barnes dunk.

The visitors could not get closer, as Charlotte was outscored 33-20 in the stanza, and trailed by seven, 55-48, at the break.

A 10-0 run to begin the second half put the Kings further in command. Stojakovic started it off with a long jumper, Miller made four free throws, Mike Bibby added a layup, and Songaila capped the spurt with a bucket for a 65-48 lead midway through the third period.

The Kings remained in control through most of the fourth quarter and led by 14 when Miller nailed a pair of free throws to make it 100-86 with over three minutes to play.

Following a missed shot by Charlotte, Songaila connected on an inside basket and the ensuing successful foul shot to put the game away and the Kings held on for the easy victory.
