NBA Game Summary - Orlando at Denver

(Monday, December 6th)

Final Score: Denver 115, Orlando 102

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Andre Miller scored a season-high 29 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 115-102 win over the Orlando Magic at the Pepsi Center.

Carmelo Anthony added 28 points for the Nuggets, who have won two straight, four of five and eight of 10. Kenyon Martin tallied 23 points and 12 boards as Denver ended a four-game homestand 3-1.

First overall pick Dwight Howard had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Magic, who had a three-game win streak halted. Steve Francis also had 23 points and dished out eight assists as Orlando lost for just the third time in 10 games.

The Nuggets took control in the first half, bridging the first and second quarters with an 11-2 run to take a 37-23 lead. Nene completed a three-point play and Earl Boykins drained a technical free throw 58 seconds into the second to cap the run.

Later in the stanza, Denver went on a 13-3 run to extend the lead to 59-37. Miller's basket with 2:12 left in the half ended the burst and the Nuggets would cruise into the break with a 68-46 cushion.

"That was the game plan," said Martin on the fast start. "That's the way we wanted to end the homestand. Coming out and being aggressive and dictating the tempo is key."

Orlando would have trouble getting the deficit down to single figures the rest of the way. Denver held an 88-74 lead after three quarters and the Magic would get only as close as 11 a number of times in the fourth.

"You can't spot a team like that, or any team for that matter, that many points," said Orlando head coach Johnny Davis. "Giving up second shots and having that many turnovers is a recipe for disaster."

Orlando had 20 turnovers.

Grant Hill had 20 points and Cuttino Mobley registered 17 for the Magic, who lost for just the second time in seven contests against a Western Conference opponent.

Boykins ended with 13 points for the Nuggets.

Game Notes

Marcus Camby left the game in the third quarter with a bruised left knee. He is expected to play on Wednesday in Washington...Martin has eight double- doubles this season. The team is undefeated in those games...Denver is 4-0 when scoring 100 or more points...Howard has six double-doubles.
