NBA Game Summary - Miami at Denver

(Saturday, December 4th)

Final Score: Denver 104, Miami 95

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points and Earl Boykins added 16 off the bench to lead the Denver Nuggets over the Miami Heat, 104-95, at the Pepsi Center.

Kenyon Martin had 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Nuggets, who rebounded from Thursday's loss to Cleveland with their seventh win in their last nine tries.

"It was a solid win," said Nuggets head coach Jeff Bzdelik. "I'm proud of my teaming for bouncing back."

Dwyane Wade collected 26 points and eight assists for the Heat, who have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games. Shaquille O'Neal added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Miami's only lead of the game came when Eddie Jones hit a three-pointer to make it 3-2 just 1:07 into the game.

Denver then jumped out to a 15-5 lead and took a 13-point advantage into the second quarter, as a three-pointer by Greg Buckner with 30 seconds left in the first made it a 35-22 contest.

The Nuggets took a 20-point lead at 54-34 on a layup by Anthony with 4:35 left in the second, but the Heat responded with a 14-2 run and made it an eight- point game at the half. A basket by Mike Doleac with one second left in the second capped the spurt and made it a 56-48 contest.

A three-point play by O'Neal with 5:33 left in the third pulled the Heat to within five at 66-61, but Denver ended the period on a 13-6 run and went into the fourth with a 79-67 advantage.

Miami made it a five-point game again at 83-78 on O'Neal's dunk with 6:24 to play, but Denver went up by 14 after Anthony made three free throws with 3:45 to play. One of the free throws was the result of a technical foul called on O'Neal.

"They did a nice job of fighting to stay in the game," Miami head coach Stan Van Gundy said about his team. "But Denver played much, much, much better than us."

Andre Miller, Buckner and Nene finished with 10 points apiece in the win, while Marcus Camby grabbed 13 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Udonis Haslem netted 14 points, Jones 13 and Doleac 10 for Miami.
