NBA Game Summary - New Orleans at Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett had 29 points and 15 rebounds and Latrell Sprewell scored seven points during a late key run to lift the Minnesota Timberwolves past the New Orleans Hornets, 99-92.
The Hornets led 80-79, before Wally Szczerbiak hit a jumper to give Minnesota the lead for good, at 81-80. Then Sprewell, who finished the game with 14 points, scored seven down the stretch to lift the T-Wolves to victory. Garnett also had eight of his points in just over a minute at the end of the game.
"Spree is a major, major part of this thing we're trying to put together," said Sam Cassell. "If he was worrying about his contract and all that when he was on the court, this wouldn't have happened."
David Wesley nailed a three-pointer with 15.5 seconds left to pull New Orleans to 95-92, but Minnesota closed it out with a streak of free throws.
Baron Davis collected 21 points and 12 assists, while Wesley scored 21 points on 7-for-18 shooting for the Hornets, who fell to 0-3 under first-year coach Byron Scott.
"We've definitely got to get more energy and push from the bench," Davis said. "We have more talent on our bench than last year."
The Hornets led 27-23 after one quarter of action, before the Timberwolves dominated the second quarter by outscoring New Orleans 31-13.
The T-Wolves trailed by six points early in the second, before scoring 10 straight points to take a 33-29 lead. Kevin Garnett had five points during the spurt.
The Timberwolves controlled the first half, and led by as many as 18 points, on a Cassell three-pointer with 1:34 left before halftime that made it 54-36. But New Orleans ripped off a 29-9 run from there, forging ahead 65-63 on a layup by Davis in the third.
Cassell finished with 15 points, while Szczerbiak added 11. Minnesota enjoyed a 44-31 advantage off the glass.
The Hornets have lost seven of eight in this series. ... Garnett, Cassell and Sprewell scored 138 of Minnesota's 191 points in the two victories over New Orleans last season.
