NBA Game Summary - Miami at Chicago

(Friday, December 3rd)

Final Score: Miami 105, Chicago 81

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Christian Laettner scored a game-high 23 points to lead Miami to an easy 105-81 win over Chicago at the United Center.

Eddie Jones added 21 points and Shaquille O'Neal netted 18 points and grabbed seven boards for the Heat, who have won two of their last three games. Dwyane Wade chipped in 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the win.

Kirk Hinrich had 17 points -- all in the first half -- and Chris Duhon contributed a career-high 15 for the Bulls, who have dropped two of three and fell to a dismal 2-11 on the season.

Miami led 24-21 after one quarter, but quickly opened up a 13-point edge in the second as it scored 20 of the first 30 points of the period. Laettner's basket with around seven minutes left capped the run and gave the Heat a 44-31 advantage.

"Christian Laettner played Duke basketball. I guess we need Coach (Mike) Krzyzewski in the stands all of the time," O'Neal said.

The Bulls, though, got back into the game as Hinrich's basket late in the quarter culminated a 19-9 surge and cut the halftime deficit to 53-50.

O'Neal scored 11 first-half points, while Hinrich had 17 points for the Bulls to lead all scorers in the opening 24 minutes.

In the third quarter, Miami extended the lead to 69-62 on Wesley Person's three-pointer with just over five minutes left. The margin grew to 10 points on Laettner's bucket later in the frame and the Heat held a 78-68 lead after three periods.

Miami put the game out of reach in the fourth as it began the period by scoring the first eight points. Wade and Jones each had three points during the spurt, which was actually a 10-0 run dating back to the third quarter, to make it 86-68.

The Bulls never threatened again.
