NBA Game Summary - Cleveland at Denver
(Thursday, December 2nd)
Final Score: Cleveland 92, Denver 73
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - LeBron James posted 17 points, nine assists and eight rebounds to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers over Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets, 92-73, at the Pepsi Center.
Jeff McInnis scored 15 points for Cleveland, which has won four of the last six overall. Robert Traylor added 15 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
James and Anthony, the first and third picks, respectively, of the 2003 NBA Draft, finished 1-2 in the Rookie of the Year voting last season. James took home the honor.
Anthony posted 14 points for the Nuggets, who watched a two-game winning streak come to an end. Andre Miller chipped in 10 in the loss.
The game was never close and the Cavaliers were in control from the start.
"We were able to get out to a big lead, and that helped," James said.
Following the opening quarter, the Cavs held a huge 30-13 lead and continued to pour in on in the second.
With just over eight minutes remaining before the half, Cleveland used an 11-2 run to increase its lead to 41-15 and cruised into the locker room with a 58-30 advantage.
Denver finally made some noise and actually outscored the visitors 25-20 in the third quarter, but it did not matter. The Cavs' lead was simply too big -- at one point they led by as many as 25 -- and they cruised the rest of the contest to the easy victory.
"We just have to prepare and get some more wins," James added.
Earlier Thursday, the Cavaliers placed guard Dajuan Wagner on the injured list for the second time this season. Wagner, who missed the first seven games due to a sprained right ankle, is suffering from an inflamed right arch.
