Final Score: Indiana 105, Miami 90
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Danny Granger drained 3-of-5 three-point attempts en route to 25 points as the Pacers used precision shooting from beyond the arc to down the Heat, 105-90, on Monday.
Paul George scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, David West finished with 10 points and 12 boards and Darren Collison netted 20 points for Indiana, which has won four of five.
The Pacers knocked down 10 treys on 18 attempts to avoid a season sweep by Miami. They also ended a five-game losing streak to the Heat.
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade paced the visitors with 24 points apiece, including a season-high four three-pointers from Wade, as they fell for the second time in as many nights. Chris Bosh contributed 14 points but only pulled down two rebounds as Miami lost the rebounding battle 49-33.
"Sometimes you go through these spells in an NBA season and it's a struggle. The last two for us were a struggle," said Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. "The guys were out there competing, but we just couldn't get over the hump. We just have to stay the course."
A tightly contested first half saw nine ties, but George hit a desperation heave from halfcourt as time expired in the second quarter to give the Pacers a 49-46 edge at intermission.
They would bring that momentum into a decisive third quarter.
West hit a floater, Collison slammed down a resounding dunk and George knocked down another trey to open the frame on a 7-0 run.
"I knew time was running out so I put it up with a wing and a prayer and it ended up being a big shot and really helped us get off on the right foot in the second half," said George.
Wade and James embarked on their own 9-0 spurt a bit later, but the hosts never surrended the lead, responding to Miami's outburst by scoring 12 of the next 14 points.
Indiana outscored the Heat 29-19 in the stanza.
Miami cut its deficit to nine points several times in the fourth but never seriously threatened.
