NBA Game Summary - New York at Sacramento

(Saturday, December 31st)

Final Score: New York 114, Sacramento 92

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony had 23 points and was one of six Knicks in double-figures as New York dismantled Sacramento, 114-92, on Saturday night.

Tyson Chandler finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Landry Fields added 21 points and five rebounds for New York, which played without Amare Stoudemire due to a left ankle sprain.

"For me it was a must win," Anthony said about the game. "I was preaching that to the team when we got here before the game."

Marcus Thornton netted 14 points for the Kings, who have lost three straight since opening the season with a win over the Lakers.

The Knicks went on a 19-2 run in the first quarter and never looked back. The run was capped when Fields' layup gave New York a 24-12 advantage. Fields had eight points during the run.

Josh Harrellson banked in a three-pointer from the left wing as New York eclipsed the 20-point barrier, 41-20, early in the second quarter.

The Knicks connected on 8-of-17 from beyond the arc in the first half en route to a 56-42 advantage.

New York led by as many as 29 in the fourth quarter before coasting to an easy win.

"They jumped on us early. They were hitting threes and they were executing," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said. "We were never able to fall back into the game."
