NBA Game Summary - Utah at New York

(Monday, March 7th)

Final Score: New York 131, Utah 109

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points and Amare Stoudemire added 31 to carry the New York Knicks to a 131-109 drubbing of the struggling Utah Jazz.

Toney Douglas hit five of New York's 13 three-pointers on his way to 20 points, and the Knicks hit 56 percent from the field to win for the second straight night.

"Myself and Carmelo can score one-on-one with ease, but to get other players involved and play team basketball is the ultimate goal for us," Stoudemire said. "Tonight was us working together, and it worked out well."

Al Jefferson was the lone offensive threat for Utah, scoring 36 points to go with 12 rebounds in the club's ninth loss in 11 games.

The Knicks were coming off a convincing 92-79 win at Atlanta on Sunday and continued that momentum in the first quarter Monday, hitting an impressive 15- of-22 from the floor en route to a 40-point barrage. Anthony scored 13 points and Douglas made a trio of three-pointers to pace the Knicks to a 40-24 advantage.

An evenly-played second frame ended with New York holding a 66-48 lead, and a Stoudemire-led 17-2 flurry put the Knicks up by 31 midway through the third.

Stoudemire scored 12 points during the run in a variety of ways -- via driving buckets, a tip-in, a mid-range bank shot and a pair of three-point plays, the last yielding an 87-56 cushion.

"You let them get going ... they're going to try to kill you," Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin said of the Knicks. "They had a lot of success tonight."

It was 102-74 at the conclusion of the third, and the final 12 minutes saw both teams empty the bench.
