NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at New Jersey

(Monday, April 11th)

Final Score: Charlotte 105, New Jersey 103

Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - D.J. Augustin hit a fadeaway jumper with 1.1 seconds remaining, as the Charlotte Bobcats snapped a six-game slide with a 105-103 win over the New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center.

Augustin finished with 19 points and 11 assists while Dante Cunningham had a team-high 21 points for the Bobcats, who will host Atlanta in their season finale on Wednesday.

Boris Diaw went for 20 points and six rebounds and Gerald Henderson netted 14 for the victors.

Brook Lopez led all scorers with 31 points for New Jersey, which has dropped four straight and 10 of its last 11 overall.

"I want to continue to grow and be someone the team can rely on down the stretch," Lopez said.

The Nets close out their 2010-11 season at Chicago on Wednesday. Jordan Farmar and Sasha Vujacic ended with 20 and 19 points, respectively, in defeat. Farmer also added nine assists.

In a tightly contested fourth quarter and tied at 96-96, Diaw connected from long range to put the Bobcats ahead by three with 1:06 on the clock. Then after an exchange of baskets and down by three, Vujacic tied things at 103-all with a corner triple with 10.9 seconds on the clock.

Out of a Charlotte timeout, Augustin took the inbounds pass and with time winding down, made his way to the basket, pulled up and drained a fadeaway jumper from just to the left of the free throw line with 1.1 seconds left. New Jersey was unable to get off a final shot and the Bobcats held on for the victory.

"We never quit. We're getting confidence and we're learning," Bobcats head coach Paul Silas said.

New Jersey led 29-25 after the opening 12 minutes and were ahead 53-49 at the intermission.

The Bobcats came out invigorated in the third, using a 17-6 run to go in front. Kwame Brown's tip-in capped the surge to give the visitors a 66-59 edge approaching the midway point of the quarter.

Then after Augustin put the finishing touches on a 9-2 run with a jumper, Charlotte was up by double-digits, 75-65, with 2:57 left and it would settle for a six-point lead after three quarters.
