NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Philadelphia

(Tuesday, March 1st)

Final Score: Dallas 101, Philadelphia 93

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jason Terry came off the bench to score a season-high 30 points to lead red-hot Dallas to a 101-93 victory over Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jason Kidd finished with 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds for his second triple-double of the season and 107th of his career for the Mavericks, who have won seven straight and 17 of their last 18 overall.

Dirk Nowitzki supplied 22 points and six boards while Shawn Marion chipped in with 10 points and 10 caroms as Dallas won its fifth straight road contest.

Jodie Meeks scored 16 points while Jrue Holiday provided 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Sixers, who had a season-high four- game win streak snapped.

Andre Iguodala contributed 15 points and seven boards and Thaddeus Young added 13 points and seven caroms in a reserve role for the hosts, who fell back to the .500 mark after losing to the Mavericks for the fifth time in the last six meetings.

"I told the team I was incredibly proud of their effort," Philadelphia head coach Doug Collins said. "I thought we played toe-to-toe with one of the better teams in the league."

Trailing by 11 late in the first half, Philly tied the game at 69 on an Iguodala dunk with slightly more than four minutes left in the third quarter.

A jumper from Terry in the closing seconds put the Mavs ahead 79-77 after three periods. Holiday tallied 13 of his points in the period but missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have tied the game.

Terry knocked down a jumper to make it 89-86 with 3:41 to play in the game. Iguodala answered at the other end with a driving layup before Kidd buried a left-wing triple to push the lead to four with just under three minutes to go.

Meeks buried a trifecta from the right wing to trim the margin to 92-91 with 1:41 to play before a Nowitzki turnaround jumper from the post made it a three-point margin on the next possession.

Terry's fastbreak dunk off a long rebound expanded the lead to 96-91 with 52.9 ticks to go. Iguodala then missed a pair of free throws five seconds later that doomed the Philadelphia comeback attempt.

"Terry had a great game," Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle said. "He gave us a real lift in the first half and then in the second half down the stretch. He kept answering their runs and it was key for us."

Kidd and Nowitzki sealed the win by hitting a combined five foul shots in the final 40.5 seconds. After shooting a scorching 61 percent in the third quarter, the Sixers struggled to a 6-for-21 effort from the field in the final stanza.

The teams were not separated by more than four points in a first quarter that ended with the Mavs on top, 23-22.

Terry's triple inside of a minute to play in the half capped a 16-4 Dallas run to make it 51-40. A Spencer Hawes dunk and two Iguodala free throws then brought the Sixers to within seven at the intermission. The lead changed hands 18 times during the first 24 minutes.
