NBA Game Summary - Denver at San Antonio

(Sunday, January 16th)

Final Score: San Antonio 110, Denver 97

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker scored 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting and Manu Ginobili netted 18 in addition to handing out seven assists, as the San Antonio Spurs rolled to a sixth straight win with a 110-97 victory over the Denver Nuggets.

San Antonio hit 11-of-22 from three-point range and connected on 14 straight field goals during a game-altering second quarter that helped turn a 12-point deficit into a 12-point halftime lead.

Gary Neal and fellow reserve George Hill each added 14 points for the Spurs, winners of 15 straight at AT&T Center.

Carmelo Anthony was a woeful 5-of-17 from the floor and ended with 12 points for a Nuggets club coming off a 3-1 homestand. Al Harrington had a team-high 18 points, and Nene posted 17 points and seven rebounds in defeat.

"I thought we fought and tried to hang in there but they seemed to have all of the energy on their side most of the game," said Denver head coach George Karl.

Denver jumped out to a 24-20 lead after the first quarter, and J.R. Smith's three-ball 2 1/2 minutes into the second gave the visitors a 32-20 advantage.

That's when the Spurs turned it on, hitting 14 straight from the floor to take control. Parker hit three in succession to spark a 19-0 run that Neal capped with a three-point play for a 53-39 cushion with 2:07 left in the half.

"We had a really poor first quarter and a really good second quarter. Tony and Manu had a lot to do with that," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Ty Lawson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to get the Nuggets within 57-45, but the Spurs played frontrunner throughout the third. The margin reached as high as 18 on two Hill free throws in the final minute of the stanza.

The Nuggets trailed 82-67 heading into the fourth and never seriously threatened the outcome.
