NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Charlotte

(Monday, November 15th)

Final Score: Charlotte 113, Minnesota 110

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace both finished with 26 points as Charlotte topped Minnesota, 113-110, at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Tyrus Thomas chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds while D.J. Augustin added nine points and 11 assists for the Bobcats, who won for the first time in five home games.

Michael Beasley ended with 28 points and Kevin Love finished with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have lost two in a row and six of their last eight.

Darko Milicic contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds while Anthony Tolliver chipped in with 13 points in a reserve role in defeat.

"We have to go through the pain and suffering of making mistakes and gaining the experience and being in this situation multiple times," Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis said of his young club.

Beasley's short jumper gave the visitors a 99-90 lead with just over five minutes to play before the Bobcats chipped away at their deficit and eventually regained the lead, 109-108, on an Augustin layup with 49.6 seconds to go in the game.

A Beasley putback shot with 34.7 ticks remaining put the Timberwolves up, 110-109. Wallace hit two foul shots and add another after a Thomas steal to put the Bobcats back in the lead at 112-110 with 12.7 seconds to play.

Minnesota rookie Wesley Johnson had a chance to tie the game at the free throw line with 3.5 seconds left. He missed the first attempt before an intentional miss on the second try deflected into the hands of Thomas, who hit 1-of-2 free throws with 1.5 seconds left to account for the final margin.

"We haven't been able to finish games," Jackson said. "So a win is a win, and we'll take it."

The Timberwolves held a 27-22 lead after a back-and-forth first 12 minutes of play.

Beasley's 11 points in the second quarter were countered by the hot-shooting Bobcats, who hit on 13-of-18 from the field en route to 38 points and a 60-60 tie heading to the intermission.

A Wallace layup at 5:13 in the third gave Charlotte a six-point lead and the Bobcats stretched their margin to as many as eight. A Sundiata Gaines driving reverse layup and deep three in the final minute of play cut the deficit to 84-81 heading to the final stanza.
