Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Al Horford and Josh Smith helped the Hawks snap a four-game losing streak, supplying 28 and 23 points, respectively, in a 111- 105 victory over Minnesota.
Horford and Smith each had 10 rebounds, while Joe Johnson added 17 points and five assists for Atlanta, which had won its first six games of the season before hitting a cold stretch.
Kevin Love, coming off a memorable 31-point, 31-rebound effort against the Knicks on Friday, recorded 22 points and 17 boards for the Timberwovles, who had a two-game win streak broken.
"The Hawks sent more guys at me tonight," Love said. "They're an extremely athletic team at every position. They really clamped down and made it a point on the offensive and defensive glass to get in there and get them."
Michael Beasley netted 25 points, and Sebastian Telfair scored 18 to go with eight assists in the loss.
Minnesota poured in three straight from behind the arc in the fourth quarter to chip away at the deficit, as Corey Brewer's three-ball had the visitors within 97-92 with four minutes to play.
Smith and Johnson stopped the momentum with back-to-back jumpers around a Telfair miss, and Horford added two at the foul line for a 103-92 game with 2:24 on the clock.
Atlanta made its final seven free throws down the stretch to seal its 10th straight win in the series.
"There are going to be times in the season when you're going to be hit with adversity. We were hit early with that four-game losing streak and were able to get out of our slump against a hot Minnesota team," Smith said.
Each team absorbed a significant run by the opposition in the opening quarter, which ended with the Hawks holding a 30-27 lead.
A Horford three-point play pushed the margin to 56-44 with 3 1/2 minutes left before halftime, and the hosts were on top, 60-52, at the break.
Atlanta scored the first six points of the third quarter and kept a double- digit lead, 83-72, heading to the fourth.
Minnesota is winless in its last eight visits to Philips Arena...Jamal Crawford scored 11 points for the Hawks, who made 34-of-39 from the foul line, compared to Minnesota's 23-of-31 effort from the stripe...Anthony Tolliver netted 13 points for Minnesota.
