NBA Game Summary - Atlanta at Minnesota

(Friday, November 5th)

Final Score: Atlanta 113, Minnesota 103

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Josh Smith scored 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out six assists, as the Atlanta Hawks stayed perfect on the season with a 113-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Jamal Crawford added 22 points and five rebounds off the bench for the Hawks, who have won six straight to start a season for the second time in three years.

Mike Bibby chipped in 15 points and five assists for Atlanta, which has won nine straight against Minnesota.

Wesley Johnson, Kevin Love, and Corey Brewer each had 18 points for the Timberwolves, who have lost four in a row. Michael Beasley added 16 points and six boards, while Love pulled down 12 rebounds.

"It's frustrating when you can't get stops," Beasley said. "We were getting everything we wanted on our end, we just couldn't stop them on the other side of the floor. It's something we have to work on and get better at."

The Hawks held a 26-25 edge following 12 minutes of action, and used a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter to take a 44-33 lead on Crawford's jumper with over 5 1/2 minutes to go.

Minnesota used an 8-0 burst late in the second. Johnson made two three- pointers during the flurry to cut the gap to 55-51. Bibby's free throw gave Atlanta a five-point lead at the half.

Johnson made a jumper to start the third, but the Hawks responded with 11 unanswered points. Jason Collins made a pair of free throws to give Atlanta a 67-53 margin with under eight minutes remaining.

The Hawks took an 83-71 advantage into the fourth and cruised from there.

"We did a pretty good job of rebounding and getting out [on the fast break]," Smith explained.
