NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Golden State

(Friday, October 29th)

Final Score: Golden State 109, LA Clippers 91

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Dorell Wright posted 24 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range and also grabbed eight rebounds, as the Golden State Warriors crushed the Los Angeles Clippers, 109-91.

Monta Ellis, fresh off a 46-point effort in a season-opening win over Houston, added 15 points and 11 assists, and David Lee posted 15 points and 12 boards for Golden State, which outscored the Clippers, 32-13, in the third quarter to highlight the easy win.

Stephen Curry aggravated an ankle injury in the game-altering frame, however, after posting 16 points and six helpers.

Eric Gordon netted 19 points, Baron Davis scored 16 and Chris Kaman 13, as the Clippers shot 38.6 percent from the field and allowed the Warriors to shoot 53.1 percent. LA lost its season-opener to Portland on Wednesday.

"We don't have time to be down," Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said. "We have a lot of things to work on and it's going to take time."

Curry showed off his arsenal to start the second half, as he hit a jumper, slammed one home and laid in another for a 64-54 lead two minutes into the third.

After a Kaman slam, the Warriors scored 15 straight to pull away. Lee and Wright each dunked to open the run, while Ellis and Wright ended it with three-pointers for a 79-56 cushion midway through the stanza.

"The guys came out focused on both sides of the ball," Warriors head coach Keith Smart said of the strong start to the second half. "The defense got our transition game going."

Ellis' finger-roll capped the dominating 12-minute stretch for a 90-67 advantage, and the Warriors cruised to the finish line.

Wright scored eight points in the first four minutes of the game en route to a 13-3 Warriors lead, but a 12-0 Clippers run a little later -- jump-started by Blake Griffin's three-point play -- gave the Clippers a 23-20 lead with three minutes left.

Golden State trailed 28-27 after the opening quarter but scored 10 of the first 13 points of the second and took a 58-54 advantage into the locker room.

Game Notes

This is the first time the Warriors are 2-0 since the 1994-95 season...Griffin, who had a double-double in his NBA debut, netted 14 points to go with 10 rebounds for LA...The Warriors, who got 12 points off the bench from Rodney Carney, made just 9-of-17 from the foul line, compared to the Clippers' 22-of-32 effort...Harvard product Jeremy Lin made his NBA debut in the fourth quarter for the Warriors...These teams split four meetings last year.
