NBA Game Summary - Indiana at Utah
(Wednesday, December 1st)
Final Score: Utah 110, Indiana 88
Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Deron Williams scored 24 points and dished out 16 assists, as the sizzling Utah Jazz picked up their seventh straight victory with a 110-88 rout of the Indiana Pacers.
Andrei Kirilenko added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Jazz, who improved to 8-0 versus the Eastern Conference this year. Al Jefferson chipped in with 17 points and 10 boards.
Paul Millsap tallied 16 points and eight rebounds for Utah, which improved to 2-0 on a six-game homestand. C.J. Miles and Raja Bell donated 13 and 10 points, respectively.
"It's a great record. I want to give credit to our team," Kirilenko said. "We're playing well, and we're playing very concentrated and focused. But again, it's not over yet. There are many many games in front of us, so we have to pay attention and keep playing the same way we're playing now."
Darren Collison finished with 16 points, five assists and five rebounds for the Pacers, who saw a brief two-game win streak come to an end. Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert each added 15 points, while Danny Granger had 14 points and seven rebounds in defeat.
Granger's jumper with 8 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter tied the game at 12-12. Utah, though, was able to take control from that point on, as the home team ripped off 11 straight points to take a 23-12 lead on Bell's trey with 5:23 remaining.
Rush stopped the bleeding with a jumper, but it proved to be Indiana's last field goal of the frame. The Jazz closed the period out on a 12-3 run to take a 35-17 margin into the second.
Trailing by 18, 48-30, midway through the second, the Pacers went on a 14-2 surge to get back in the game. Granger's trey cut the gap to 50-44 with 1:39 left. It was 54-46 at the half.
It was a three-point game early in the third following Hibbert's hook shot and Josh McRoberts' trey. Utah responded with a 9-2 flurry moments later to take a 65-55 lead on Jefferson's jumper with 7:11 to go.
The Jazz scored the final nine points of the stanza to build an 85-68 margin after 36 minutes.
The Pacers never got closer than 15 in the final quarter.
"They are very hard. They control the game," Granger said. "They are very methodical in their offense. They set up back cuts, they shoot a lot of high percentage shots because they work so well in the interior. So trying to bounce back once you get down by 20 in the first quarter is really hard to do."
The Jazz have won five straight at home against the Pacers...Utah improved to 8-3 at EnergySolutions Arena this season...Indiana saw a four-game road win streak come to an end.
