NBA Game Summary - Boston at Utah

(Monday, March 22nd)

Final Score: Utah 110, Boston 97

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Deron Williams posted 22 points and 11 assists and Mehmet Okur scored 11 of his 14 points in a game-changing third quarter, as the Jazz downed the Celtics, 110-97, at EnergySolutions Arena.

Okur also had 15 rebounds and was a key component in Utah's 33-19 differential in the third that catapulted the Jazz to their fourth win in five games.

"It was a tough first half, but in the second half it was a different ball game," Okur said. "We wanted to come out there and react right from the beginning, including myself. I wanted to be active on the defensive end and on the other end, my teammates just kept telling me to shoot the ball, and I played like a lot of confidence."

C.J. Miles scored 23 points while Carlos Boozer ended with 19 points and nine rebounds, as the Jazz inched within a half-game of Dallas for the third seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

Ray Allen scored 15 points, while Glen Davis and Paul Pierce donated 13 and 11 points, respectively, for Boston, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Despite the loss, the Celtics remained tied with the Hawks for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Utah trailed by 12 late in the second quarter, but scored the final seven points of the half to pull within 54-49 on a Miles bucket.

The Jazz maintained the momentum coming out of the locker room with a nine- point spurt to start the third. Okur's three-pointer a minute in gave the hosts the lead, 56-54, and Williams put in a deuce the next time down.

Later in the frame, Miles and Okur each hit from long range during a quick 8-0 run, the latter providing a 73-63 lead midway through the frame.

"They started the third quarter pretty electric," Boston forward Kevin Garnett said. "You pretty much have to anticipate it. As many times as I have played here they have always been able to come back out. We were pretty aggressive the first half so you had to anticipate them actually coming out with some energy."

The Celtics trailed 82-73 heading to the fourth, which was highlighted by Boozer blocking Allen's three-point attempt en route to a fast-break dunk for a 95-81 cushion with 6:41 remaining.

The closest the visitors got from there was nine.

Boston led 26-21 after 12 minutes and a late 8-1 run in the second, capped by a three-pointer from Allen, gave the visitors a 54-42 lead with two minutes left before the break.
