NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Milwaukee
(Monday, November 30th)
Final Score: Milwaukee 99, Chicago 97
Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Andrew Bogut sparkled in his return by scoring 22 points and ripping down 15 rebounds, as the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Chicago Bulls, 99-97, at the Bradley Center.
Bogut, who missed just under two weeks with a lower left leg strain and contusion, also had four blocks and three steals to help the Bucks snap a four-game skid. His layup with just over three minutes left provided Milwaukee with the go-ahead points, and he had a pair of blocks down the stretch. He played over 34 minutes.
"Obviously it was hard to get him out of the game," said Bucks coach Scott Skiles. "He hasn't played so we did need to take a look at him and see how he was moving around. He was moving very well, obviously. He made a lot of big plays."
Charlie Bell had 16 points, while Brandon Jennings added 15 points and eight assists for Milwaukee. Carlos Delfino also scored 15, and Ersan Ilyasova tallied 13 points and nine boards before fouling out.
John Salmons had 23 points to lead the Bulls, who dropped their fifth straight game. Luol Deng finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Joakim Noah ended wtih 16 points and 17 boards. Derrick Rose had 19 points in defeat.
Salmons hit a three-pointer with 14.7 seconds left to get the Bulls within one, but Jennings countered with a pair of free throws for a 98-95 edge wtih 13.2 ticks left.
The Bucks then let Salmons go in uncontested for a jam with 8.6 seconds to go before Bell sank 1-of-2 attempts from the charity stripe. Rose then passed up a possible tying shot with a pass to Brad Miller, but Miller's jumper from right of the foul line came up short at the buzzer.
"I just going high-screen roll and try to let Derrick create because he was doing a good job off the dribble," said Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro about the final play. "If the three presented itself with Brad, shoot it. If not, Derrick (would) attack the rim. I thought Brad had a decent shot.
Milwaukee led by as many as nine in the first quarter and was in front, 22-17, after 12 minutes. The Bucks pushed the advantage to 12 early in the second, but the Bulls rallied and were within 48-44 at the half.
A three-pointer from Jennings widened the lead for the hosts to 70-56 with 5:38 left in the third, but a late push from Chicago, capped by a Rose layup, had the Bulls within 75-72 with 30 seconds left in the period. Bell countered with a jumper to cap the stanza.
Bogut's layup with 3:04 remaining provided Milwaukee with a 91-89 edge.
