NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Charlotte
(Wednesday, March 31st)
Final Score: Charlotte 103, Philadelphia 84
Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Gerald Wallace finished with game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Charlotte had little trouble disposing of the Philadelphia 76ers, 103-84, to help its playoff chances.
The win, their fourth in five games, has the Bobcats situated in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, two games in front of the Raptors and four ahead of ninth-place Chicago with eight to play.
Stephen Jackson and Tyson Chandler added 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the lopsided win.
Andre Iguodala netted 14 points, while Jason Kapono and Marreese Speights both had 13 for the Sixers, who were outscored at the free throw line, 27-5, in their second straight loss.
"I thought we played with a lot of emotion," Philadelphia head coach Eddie Jordan. "We just didn't make plays or enough shots."
Charlotte, coming off a 103-101 home loss to Toronto on Monday, extended its 24-18 first-quarter lead with six straight points to start the second. The margin grew to 16 and settled at 52-42 by the break.
Jackson scored eight points during a 12-4 run early in the third that yielded a 65-48 cushion. The Bobcats hit six free throws during an eight-point run that all but put the game away later in the frame.
The hosts cruised to a 77-59 advantage after 36 minutes, and the final quarter served as nothing more than a shootaround for both teams.
"We came out in the second half and did a better job of taking care of the ball," Wallace said. "It slowed them down and forced them to play half-court ball...We're good at half-court defense."
Philadelphia has prevailed just once in its last 10 trips to Charlotte... Willie Green totaled 12 points for Philadelphia, which turned it over a season-high 25 times, compared to 17 Charlotte giveaways...Boris Diaw checked in with 10 points for the Bobcats.
