(Friday, November 27th)
Final Score: Dallas 113, Indiana 92
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki hit 10 shots from the field and was 11-of-13 at the line for 31 points to lead Dallas in a 113-92 defeat of Indiana.
Jason Terry added 17 points and Shawn Marion 13 with eight rebounds for the Mavericks, who have won seven of their last eight games -- including both tests of a three-game road trip that ends Saturday in Cleveland.
Kris Humphries contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jason Kidd scored 11, grabbed five boards and dished four assists.
Danny Granger returned to the lineup after sitting Wednesday with a sprained left MCL and scored 20 points. Mike Dunleavy had 13 and Troy Murphy 10 points for Indiana, which has lost five of its last six games.
"Nowitzki started out on fire and got us back on our heels, and from there on they played with a lot more force. We did not play tough enough at all. That's why we got pounded," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said.
Jose Juan Barea drilled a three-pointer to close out the opening 12 minutes to put Dallas up 35-26. A 13-0 run through the middle stages of the second staked the Mavs to a 55-33 advantage.
The Pacers made inroads to the lead late with Dunleavy hitting a pair of shots, including a three to get within nine. Nowitzki completed a three-point play just before halftime for a 66-54 lead at the break.
"Our offense really seems to be clicking. The last two games we've done a good job of swinging the ball and shooting the ball well," remarked Nowitzki. "The third quarter we protected the ball and kept executing."
Nowitzki scored six quick points early in the third to go up 78-59 and a Kidd three-ball dropped for a 20-point advantage, 84-64, with 3:51 on the clock. Kidd buried another triple moments later to spark an 11-0 run to end the frame with Dallas holding a healthy 95-69 lead.
Indiana went for a quick six points midway through the fourth, but Barea hit a three in the midst of the burst and James Singleton's slam following the sequence gave the Mavs a 108-84 advantage with 5:16 to play. The outcome was never in doubt from that point.
Dallas took both matchups with Indiana a year ago and has won four straight and nine of the last 11 contests in this series...T.J. Ford had nine points and five assists for the Pacers...Singleton scored six and added 10 rebounds for Dallas, which outrebounded Indiana 54-33.
