NBA Game Summary - Atlanta at Philadelphia

(Friday, November 27th)

Final Score: Atlanta 100, Philadelphia 86

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The combination of Mike Bibby and Jamal Crawford was too much for the struggling 76ers to overcome, as the backcourt duo combined for 45 points and 10 assists to lead the Hawks to a 100-86 win.

Crawford went for 24 points and five assists, and Bibby added a season-high 21 and five for Atlanta, which was coming off back-to-back losses to New Orleans and Orlando. Josh Smith ended with 20 points, while Al Horford contributed 15 and eight rebounds for the victors.

"This was a good game for us. I'm big on good teams bouncing back and we were able to do that tonight," said Hawks coach Mike Woodson.

The Hawks are off to their best start since opening the 1997-98 season at 13-2.

Philadelphia has lost five straight and seven of eight overall. Thaddeus Young led the way in another setback with 22 points, and Andre Iguodala tallied 16 points, nine boards and eight helpers.

To make matters worse, the Sixers learned on Thursday that starting point guard Lou Williams will be lost for eight weeks with a broken jaw.

Philly had it as close as three, 77-74, early in the fourth following a pair of Jason Kapono three-pointers.

However, the Hawks scored seven quick points to make it a double-digit game. Horford's baby hook came with 7 1/2 minutes remaining to cap the rally, and the Sixers never made it a one-possession game down the stretch.

"That team is pretty big, pretty fast and pretty talented. We left so many plays out there in the open floor. We missed shots, and we lost control of the game," said Sixers coach Eddie Jordan.

Bibby hit a trio of three-pointers to pace Atlanta in the opening quarter, which ended in a halfcourt buzzer-beater by Willie Green that pulled the Sixers within 26-23.

Iguodala capped an 10-0 run with 4 1/2 minutes left in the second to give the hosts a 41-37 lead, but Atlanta scored the final nine points of the frame for a 46-41 edge at the break.

Atlanta led throughout the third and owned a 75-66 edge heading to the fourth thanks to a late three from Crawford.

Game Notes

Sixers forward Elton Brand missed his second straight game with a hamstring injury...Jason Smith and Rodney Carney scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Philadelphia, which was outrebounded 42-32...Atlanta had lost eight of its previous 10 trips to the Wachovia Center...Samuel Dalembert had a season-high six blocks for Philadelphia.
