NBA Game Summary - Cleveland at Atlanta

(Wednesday, April 14th)

Final Score: Atlanta 99, Cleveland 83

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Jeff Teague led the Hawks with career-highs of 24 points and 15 assists in a 99-83 win over the Cavaliers, with both Eastern Conference powers resting most of their starters in the regular season finale.

Maurice Evans netted 15 points for Atlanta (53-29), which as the No. 3 seed in the East will have home-court advantage over the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs starting on Saturday.

"This is where it gets exciting," Atlanta's Marvin Williams said of the upcoming postseason. "We've worked hard all season for this moment and we have to make it count."

Cleveland (61-21), having locked up the NBA's best record back on April 4th, dropped its final four games of the regular season while resting MVP candidate LeBron James.

The Cavs, who received a team-high 15 points from Jamario Moon, will play the Bulls in the first round of the playoffs, starting Saturday, after Chicago secured the final postseason spot with a win over Charlotte on Wednesday.

"We got through it," Cleveland head coach Mike Brown said of the finale. "Everyone's healthy. Now we can look forward to the playoffs. We know who we're going to play and I think our players understand what's at stake here and they'll be ready."

Atlanta led 27-23 after the opening quarter and continued to play front-runner in the second, taking a 48-46 edge into the break.

Zaza Pachulia's driving layup midway through the third capped a 12-0 run that gave the Hawks a 67-50 cushion. It was 77-60 in favor of the hosts heading into the final stanza, which served as nothing more than a shootaround.
