NBA Game Summary - Miami at Toronto
(Wednesday, January 27th)
Final Score: Toronto 111, Miami 103
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Chris Bosh scored 24 points and pulled down a season-best 18 rebounds as Toronto downed Miami, 111-103, at Air Canada Centre.
Andrea Bargnani tallied 27 points for the Raptors, who won their third in a row, rallying from a double-digit deficit in each contest. Amir Johnson and Marco Belinelli added 11 points apiece while Sonny Weems scored 10 for Toronto, which shot a sparkling 61.1 percent in the second half.
With Wednesday's victory, Toronto moved into fifth place in the Eastern Conference, a half-game ahead of Miami.
"We knew that we were going to turn it around," Bosh said. "We always worked hard and always believed in ourselves. We got a couple of wins and that got us going. Then we were able to turn that into some wins in some big games. As you start to get down to the end of the season and play teams you have to beat to stay in the playoff runs, that makes it that more fun."
Dwyane Wade had 35 points and 10 assists for the Heat, who have lost two in a row. They played the majority of the game without forward Michael Beasley, who suffered a hyperextended right knee in the first quarter.
"Tonight they just had more bullets than we did," Wade said. "They are a tough team, especially at home. They always have guys that step up and make big shots when it counts here."
Jermaine O'Neal had 22 points and eight rebounds for Miami, which also received 16 points and 11 boards from Udonis Haslem. The Heat held a three- point lead at the half, but then shot just 16-of-45 over the final 24 minutes.
With 7:32 left in the first quarter, Beasley was going up for a pass in the lane when he was pushed by Hedo Turkoglu. Beasley went down to the floor holding his right knee before limping to the locker room, but returned in the second quarter for a brief time wearing a brace. He didn't play in the second half.
Miami trimmed what was a nine-point deficit down to three as Wade's layup with over a minute left in the fourth made it a 106-103 contest. Jose Calderon then made 1-of-2 at the foul line, and a three-pointer from the right corner from Antoine Wright sealed the win with 15 seconds left.
The Heat gained a 13-point lead in the first and were in front, 34-23 after 12 minutes. A 20-6 run in the second quarter gave Toronto a 43-42 edge following a Belinelli three-pointer.
Miami was ahead 60-57 at the half and it remained tight for most of the third. A three-pointer by Dorell Wright at the end of the period had Miami within 85-81. Toronto led 100-91 with over four minutes left in the game on a Bosh jumper.
Toronto has won eight of the last 10 meetings...The Raptors shot 56.8 percent from the field, while Miami struggled by going 5-of-22 from beyond the arc...The Heat had been 9-0 on the road when leading at the half.
