NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Toronto

(Sunday, January 24th)

Final Score: Toronto 106, LA Lakers 105

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Hedo Turkoglu made two free throws with 1.2 seconds left and the Raptors survived a final missed shot from Kobe Bryant to beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 106-105, at Air Canada Centre.

Andrea Bargnani had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Raptors, who won their second in a row and beat the Lakers for just the third time in the last 16 meetings.

Chris Bosh contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Jarrett Jack also scored 18 for the Raptors, who had the final five points of the contest.

"We wanted to keep it close and play good defense," Bosh said. "We didn't get down at any time during the game. We went to work hard and made some shots late."

Bryant narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with 27 points, a career- high 16 rebounds and nine assists, but the Lakers fell to 1-2 on their eight- game road trip. Pau Gasol had 22 points and Andrew Bynum 21, with both players tallying nine rebounds.

Bryant's pull-up jumper gave LA a 105-101 cushion with 1:46 left, but Bargnani drove in for a reverse layup and was fouled. The three-point play with 1:16 left made it a one-point contest.

Bryant and Bargnani traded missed jumpers with Bargnani's a three-point try.

A missed three-point try by Bryant with 15.3 seconds left gave the Raptors the chance for the win. Turkoglu then knifed into the lane before being fouled by Gasol.

"I didn't push him," Gasol said. "I think it was his momentum that caused him to fall. My arm was on his back, but I didn't push him."

Two free throws later, the Raptors were ahead one, and after a timeout Bryant's desperation three-point try clanked off the rim as time expired.

Los Angeles held a 24-21 lead after one quarter and Bryant's pull-up shot in the waning seconds of the next period gave the Lakers a 56-54 halftime lead.

The Lakers were ahead by as many as 10 in the third quarter, but a layup by DeMar DeRozan in the final seconds of the stanza trimmed the deficit to 84-82.
