NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Phoenix
(Friday, January 22nd)
Final Score: Chicago 115, Phoenix 104
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Derrick Rose netted 32 points and Luol Deng added 23, as Chicago went into US Airways Center and handed Phoenix a 115-104 defeat.
"I was just taking the shots that they were giving me," Rose said. "They were giving me mid-range so I was taking it...I've been working on my form and getting the ball up and it paid off."
Joakim Noah chipped in 19 points and eight rebounds, while Kirk Hinrich and John Salmons each scored 14 for the Bulls, who halted a brief two-game slide and improved to 5-15 on the road this season.
Amare Stoudemire ended with 23 points while fellow All-Star starter Steve Nash was held to eight points and seven assists for the Suns, who have lost five of their last six. Grant Hill donated 17 points in the loss.
Chicago scored the final seven points of the first quarter to take a 35-26 lead after 12 minutes of action.
The Bulls continued to lead at the break, 64-54, before the Suns moved in front, 77-75, on a Nash bucket at the 4:38 mark of the third stanza.
Salmons hit a late three-pointer and Rose beat the buzzer with another from long range for an 88-83 cushion heading to the final frame.
Phoenix never got settled offensively in the fourth, and Rose's thunderous two-handed jam over Goran Dragic near the midway point of the fourth yielded a 99-91 lead.
Stoudemire's dunk with 2:55 to play cut the deficit to 103-98, but the Bulls scored the next eight points, as two Noah free throws with 52.3 seconds essentially sealed the big road win.
"They made a ton of shots and they shot the ball real well from the perimeter. We just never really got them to slow down," said Suns head coach Alvin Gentry.
The Bulls swept the home-and-home season series a year ago for the first time since 1996-97...Chicago made 50.6 percent from the field, compared to just a 38.5 percent effort for the Suns, who received 16 points and eight boards from Channing Frye.
