NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Orlando

(Friday, January 22nd)

Final Score: Orlando 100, Sacramento 84

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, as the Orlando Magic earned an easy 100-84 win over the Sacramento Kings at Amway Arena.

Rashard Lewis and J.J. Redick each finished with 15 points for Orlando, which has won two straight after snapping a three-game slide with a 109-98 victory over Indiana on Wednesday. It was only the Magic's fourth win in their last 11 overall. Vince Carter ended with 11 points.

"Our effort and intensity has been up after those losses that we've had," Howard said. "We have to continue to do that."

Tyreke Evans poured in 19 points and Jason Thompson finished with 10 points and as many rebounds for the Kings, who have dropped the first five games on their six-game eastern road trip, including a 108-97 setback at Atlanta on Wednesday. Sacramento has now lost six in a row and 13 of 15 overall.

Orlando held a slim 23-22 lead after the opening 12 minutes, then ran off the first nine points of the second. Carter's layup got things started and Marcin Gortat converted a pair from the free-throw line to finish it off, putting the Magic up 32-22 with 9:39 left in the opening half.

Nelson's short jumper beat the halftime buzzer to cap a 10-3 run and give Orlando a commanding 48-32 advantage at the break.

The Magic continued to hold a sizeable lead in the third quarter and Lewis' layup with just under three minutes remaining put his squad ahead by 30, 71-41. The final 12 minutes proved no contest as Orlando went deep into its bench and cruised to the easy decision.

"We're going to have some games like this," Kings head coach Paul Westphal. "It never feels good...We couldn't get anything going tonight."
