NBA Game Summary - Miami at Houston

(Friday, January 15th)

Final Score: Miami 115, Houston 106

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Dwyane Wade poured in a game-high 37 points to go with eight assists, as the Miami Heat handled the Houston Rockets, 115-106, at Toyota Center.

Rafer Alston added 17 points for the Heat, who improved to 3-2 on a six- game western road trip, which concludes Saturday at Oklahoma City. Jermaine O'Neal chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds. Quentin Richardson tallied 15 points, while Michael Beasley had 12 points for Miami, which shot 53.6 percent from the field.

"They came out playing very well in the beginning getting out to the quick lead, but we stuck with it. The second quarter, we played aggressive defense forcing them into turnovers and turning those into points which was huge. My job was to get my teammates involved in the second half and continue that momentum. The Rockets are a team that can score in spurts and we made sure to not let that happen in the second half," Wade said.

Chase Budinger and Luis Scola each ended with 17 points for the Rockets, who had an eight-game winning streak at home come to an end. Trevor Ariza finished with 15 points and six boards. Aaron Brooks added 14 points and five assists for Houston, which committed 17 turnovers, leading to 24 Miami points.

The Rockets, who led by as many as 10 in the first quarter, held a 29-27 edge after 12 minutes of play.

Down 37-31 early in the second, the Heat went on a 20-4 run. Beasley and Wade each had six points during the stretch, which Wade capped with a jumper to give Miami a 51-41 lead with 4:43 left.

The Heat ripped off six straight points moments later to build a 59-46 margin, and they led 62-53 at the break.

Miami started the third on a 15-6 burst to take control. Richardson ended the flurry with a trey to make it a 77-59 game with seven minutes to go. The Heat held a comfortable 91-77 lead after three quarters.

The Heat cruised to victory in the final period.

"It was a poor offensive effort all the way around. We didn't execute and when you don't do that, you have to play hard and hustle and cover for each other and we didn't do that either in the second period," Rockets forward Shane Battier said.
