NBA Game Summary - Orlando at Miami

(Thursday, December 17th)

Final Score: Miami 104, Orlando 86

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Dwyane Wade netted 25 points and dished out seven assists, as the Miami Heat took down Southeast Division-rival Orlando in a 104-86 rout at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Michael Beasley scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Miami, which won its second in a row to improve to 2-2 on a six-game homestand.

"The purity and business-like attitude we've had in the last three days has been solid. I think it's been a direct contribution to our energy, our motor, our sense of energy but also our focus and efficiency," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.

Quentin Richardson and Dorell Wright each chipped in 11 points.

Dwight Howard totaled 17 points and 14 rebounds to pace the division-leading Magic, who entered Thursday's contest 8-2 in their last 10 contests.

J.J. Redick added 13 points, Mickael Pietrus 12 and Vince Carter 10 in the loss.

The Heat shot 51.9 percent from the field compared to Orlando's 43.6 percent shooting performance.

"We weren't focused and we didn't come out ready to play. They were great. We were real bad. When you have that combination you can have a really lopsided game," Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy.

Wright provided six points to a 10-0 run to end the opening quarter with the Heat holding a 33-18 lead. Miami opened up a 17-point advantage approaching midway through the second quarter with Mario Chalmers draining a three-pointer and Beasley adding a bucket and a free throw.

The Magic wouldn't get much closer before the break as Carlos Arroyo's three- ball beat the buzzer for a 59-44 halftime spread. The Heat continued to press on in the third, scoring 12 of the final 14 points to take a commanding 89-60 advantage heading to the final stanza.

Orlando was never able to seriously challenge Miami's lead in the fourth.
