NBA Game Summary - Utah at Golden State
(Friday, February 19th)
Final Score: Utah 100, Golden State 89
Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Carlos Boozer poured in 30 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, as the surging Utah Jazz took down the Golden State Warriors, 100-89, at ORACLE Arena.
Andrei Kirilenko added 22 points, five rebounds, and five steals for the Jazz, who have won the first three games of a four-game road trip that wraps up Sunday at Portland. Utah has won 12 of its last 13 games.
C.J. Miles tallied 16 points off the bench for Utah, which has won six straight away from Salt Lake City for the first time since February 12-20, 2002.
"We passed the basketball pretty well," Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan said. "I think we had 20 assists at halftime. Guys were looking for each other and made the game pretty easy the way we played."
C.J. Watson ended with 22 points off the bench for the Warriors, who couldn't maintain the momentum from a 130-98 rout of the Kings on Wednesday. Corey Maggette finished with 14 points, while Stephen Curry donated 13 points but turned the ball over 10 times. Anthony Morrow chipped in 10 points and six rebounds for Golden State, which shot just 37.2 percent from the floor.
Warriors star guard Monta Ellis returned to the lineup following a four-game absence due to a sprained left knee, and had six points and six assists.
Golden State held a 31-28 edge after 12 minutes but it was all Utah from that point on.
The Jazz took control with an impressive 28-2 run to start the second quarter. Boozer had 12 points during the span, which Deron Williams capped with a trey to give Utah a 56-33 lead with three minutes remaining until half.
The Warriors responded with eight consecutive points, but Williams made a three-pointer before the break to make it a 59-41 game at halftime.
Ahead by 20 near the midway mark of the third, Utah ripped off seven straight points. Williams' free throw had the Jazz ahead 78-51 with less than five minutes remaining. The score was 85-65 after three periods.
Down 93-67 early in the fourth, Golden State made things interesting by going on an 18-2 spurt to get within 10. Anthony Tolliver tallied seven points during the burst, including a free throw to make it 95-85 with less than three minutes to play.
But the Jazz countered with a pair of Kirilenko free throws and a Paul Millsap layup to seal the victory.
"Coming off a big game like we did, and then coming out here and having a disappointing loss like this pretty much hurts, especially at home in front of your fans, so we just have to pick it up and get another win Sunday," Watson said.
This was the first meeting between these clubs this season after splitting four games last year...The Jazz were sellers at Thursday's trade deadline, sending starting guard Ronnie Brewer to Memphis for a future first-round draft pick...Williams had nine points and 11 assists for the Jazz, who shot 42.7 percent from the field.
