NBA Game Summary - Indiana at Denver

(Friday, March 5th)

Final Score: Denver 122, Indiana 114

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony ended with 34 points to lead six Nuggets in double figures, as Denver picked up a 122-114 win over the Pacers in a game not as close as the final score indicated.

J.R. Smith chipped in 20 points and eight assists, and Chris Andersen added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who have won two straight after dropping consecutive games to the Lakers and Suns.

Chauncey Billups had 14 points on 3-of-13 shooting in the win.

Danny Granger again paced Indiana with 32 points, but it wasn't enough to snap its four-game road skid. Troy Murphy had 14 points to go with nine rebounds, while Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush scored 12 points apiece for the Pacers, who have dropped 10 of 12 overall.

"We know we're not having the season we would have liked," Granger said. "We're just trying to be professional about everything and win games."

Smith scored 10 points over the final two minutes of the opening frame to help the Nuggets jump out to a 38-28 lead.

Denver was in front, 64-56, at halftime, and late in the third, Anthony's three-point play sparked a 9-0 run, which was capped by an Anthony Carter jumper for a 97-79 lead.

The Pacers trailed 97-82 going into the final 12 minutes and continued to trail by double digits until the final minute of the game.

"There was balance to what we did," Nuggets head coach George Karl said. "It was a solid win, but it wasn't anything special."
