NBA Game Summary - Houston at Milwaukee
(Wednesday, February 17th)
Final Score: Houston 127, Milwaukee 99
Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Shane Battier scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, as the Houston Rockets used a huge third quarter to destroy the Milwaukee Bucks, 127-99, at the Bradley Center.
Trevor Ariza added 22 points for the Rockets, who snapped a three-game skid. Carl Landry donated 19 points and five rebounds off the bench while Aaron Brooks tallied 15 points and 12 assists for Houston, which outscored Milwaukee, 43-14, in the third quarter.
Aiding the Rockets' blowout was a 16-of-23 effort from three-point range.
"It was a great game," Rockets head coach Rick Adelman said. "We came out at the second half, had talked about the game last night where we were up and really faltered in the second half, and just shot the lights out in the third quarter. Shane (Battier) and Trevor (Ariza) were just on fire. It was a well- needed win for us."
Luc Mbah a Moute finished with 18 points and eight boards for the Bucks, who had won six of eight coming into Wednesday. Brandon Jennings chipped in 13 points. Luke Ridnour and Andrew Bogut each had 12 points in defeat.
Ahead 60-55 early in the third, Houston ripped off 11 straight points to create some breathing room. Ariza ended the spurt with a three-pointer to make it a 71-55 game with eight minutes left.
The score was 80-63 with 5:41 remaining when the Rockets took total control with an 18-0 run. Brooks, Ariza, and Battier got the flurry going with three consecutive three-pointers. Landry tallied six points during the burst, including a jumper to give Houston a 98-63 margin.
The score was 100-66 heading to the fourth, and the Rockets cruised to victory in the final quarter.
Houston led 57-52 at the half after the clubs played to a 20-20 tie after 12 minutes.
"We just didn't play well," Bogut said. "We stuck with them in every category except field goal percentage. I think we were out-rebounding them in the first half, had more blocked shots and more steals. But they shoot fifty percent in the first half and sixty percent for the game and they bombarded us with three's in the third quarter and blew the game wide open."
