Final Score: Sacramento 120, Minnesota 100
Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Jason Thompson scored 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in Sacramento's 120-100 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Tyreke Evans added 18 points, Beno Udrih 16, while Omri Casspi and Andres Nocioni each finished with 14 for Sacramento, which snapped a four-game slide. The Kings shot 52.6 percent from the field.
"It was a good night for us," said Kings coach Paul Westphal. "The Timberwolves had been playing better. I think they may have been a little fatigued after the Lakers last night. We were rested and we got them on a good night so we want to take any win we can get."
Al Jefferson had a season-high 26 points and 11 boards for the Timberwolves, who have lost four in a row and dropped to 3-21 on the season. Corey Brewer notched 16 points, while Kevin Love ended with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ramon Sessions also had 14 points.
"We were playing way too fast, turned the ball over and didn't set anything up," said Love. "That's why the score was what it was. We came out and thought we could outscore them, didn't really play well on defense. And they put up 120 points on us."
Ahead 35-32 after the opening quarter, the Kings started to pull away late in the second. Udrih's jumper capped seven straight points by Sacramento for a 54-46 lead with 5:04 left in the half. It was 64-57 at the break.
A 15-3 spurt in the third pushed Sacramento's lead to 83-69 with Donte Greene's jumper capping the spurt. The margin stood at 97-77 moving to the fourth and the Kings were up by as many as 29 in the last stanza.
