NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Miami

(Friday, December 11th)

Final Score: Dallas 106, Miami 93

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 25 points, and Erick Dampier added 20 points and 17 rebounds, as the Mavericks rolled over the Heat, 106-93, at American Airlines Arena.

"This is not an unusual thing, [Dampier] playing well and at a high level," Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said. "He became a guy that we really depended on last year and it's the same way this year."

Jason Terry scored 16 points, while Shawn Marion and Jose Barea each had 12 for Dallas, which has won 11 in a row in the regular season vs. Miami and two straight overall.

Dwyane Wade notched 28 points on 8-of-24 shooting to go with 11 rebounds for Miami, which has lost three of its last four. Udonis Haslem chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Michael Beasley had 16 and 11 in defeat.

Dallas led wire-to-wire, as Barea's three-pointer capped a 13-1 Dallas run to start the game. The visitors led, 30-18, heading to the second quarter and took a 53-46 lead after 24 minutes of play.

Nowitzki's bank shot extended the Mavericks' margin to 69-54 at the 7:17 mark of the third. Miami failed to get much closer and found themselves down, 84-73, at the end of the third.

Drew Gooden opened the fourth with a hook shot, and his three-point play a little later yielded a 91-74 Dallas lead that was never seriously threatened.

"We got off to a slow start," Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Give them credit, they played well. They moved the ball."

Game Notes

Jermaine O'Neal missed a second straight game due to personal reasons...Miami will also host Memphis, Toronto, Orlando, Portland and Utah on its homestand...Barea also had 10 assists, as did Jason Kidd for the victors...These two teams met in the 2005-06 NBA Finals, with Miami winning the last four games to take the series, 4-2.
