NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Indiana
(Friday, December 11th)
Final Score: Indiana 107, New Jersey 91
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Tyler Hansbrough scored a career-high 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds off the bench, as the Indiana Pacers snapped a six-game skid with a 107-91 victory over the lowly New Jersey Nets at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Roy Hibbert had a career-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds and three blocks for the Pacers, who won for the first time since a win over the Clippers on November 25. Troy Murphy chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Mike Dunleavy tallied 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists for Indiana, which shot 46.7 percent from the field.
"I felt good and it felt good to get a win tonight. This win does not erase the losses that we had, but it sure helps out," Hansbrough said. "We showed up tonight, played hard and won."
Brook Lopez finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocked shots for the Nets, who have lost two in a row following their second win of the season on Tuesday against the Bulls. Devin Harris added 18 points, while Rafer Alston chipped in 17 points off the bench for New Jersey, which shot 36.3 percent from the floor.
"I thought we were doing a good job tonight regardless of the score. We were still in there fighting. We have to keep fighting," Lopez said.
The Pacers scored the final eight points of the first quarter to take a 27-21 lead.
Ahead 33-27 early in the second, Indiana scored eight consecutive points to build a double-digit margin. Hibbert tallied five points during the stretch, including a slam to make it a 41-27 game with 8:14 left until half.
A Lopez basket had the Nets within 52-46 with over 2 1/2 minutes left until the break, but the Pacers still led, 60-51, heading into the locker room.
New Jersey trailed by only five, 76-71, after Courtney Lee made a layup with over four minutes to go in the third. But Indiana responded with eight straight points to take an 84-71 lead. They held an 87-74 margin heading to the fourth.
Hibbert drilled a three-pointer with over eight minutes left in the fourth to extend the Pacers' lead to 96-75.
The Nets never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.
Indiana defeated New Jersey, 91-83, on November 17 at the IZOD Center and has won five of the last six meetings between the teams. New Jersey has lost in six of nine and seven of its last 11 contests at Conseco Fieldhouse.
