NBA Game Summary - New York at Orlando

(Wednesday, December 2nd)

Final Score: Orlando 118, New York 104

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Rashard Lewis made 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc, on his way to 20 points while adding 11 rebounds, as the Orlando Magic handled the New York Knicks, 118-104, at Amway Arena.

Dwight Howard added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Magic, who have won four in a row and nine of their last 10 games. Mickael Pietrus and Brandon Bass each chipped in 17 points, while Matt Barnes ended with 12 points off the bench for Orlando, which shot 55.1 percent from the field.

"I thought we played three really good quarters tonight. Really the middle two quarters, but I thought we played three really good quarters. I'm pretty happy overall. A lot of guys involved, a lot of guys got minutes, different guys. Brandon (Bass) got lots of minutes; that was good. Good performance, good win and now back out on the road after this long home stand," said Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy.

Wilson Chandler tallied a season-high 24 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Knicks, who have lost six of their last seven. Danilo Gallinari had 20 points and seven boards while Toney Douglas finished with 17 points off the bench for New York, which shot 46.4 percent from the floor and was coming off a shocking 126-99 win over Phoenix Tuesday.

"We got down about 20 and I felt like the energy was just zapped out of us. I was looking a little bit for the rookies to come in and see if they could give us a bit of a spark., which they did ok. We just kind of played it," said Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni.

With the score tied at seven early, the Magic went on 9-0 run. Howard had four points on the spurt that Pietrus capped with a trey for a 16-7 lead with about 7 1/2 minutes left. Orlando held a 31-23 margin after 12 minutes.

New York used a 7-0 flurry early in the second to cut the gap to three. Al Harrington bookended the spurt with a layup and tip-in to get the Knicks within 33-30 with less than 9 1/2 minutes until half.

Ahead by three midway through the period, the Magic finished the half with an 11-2 flurry. Bass got the burst going with five straight points and Vince Carter ended things with a jumper to make it 51-39.

A Lewis jumper and three-pointer put Orlando up 72-55 midway through the third stanza. The Magic held a 92-70 margin heading to the fourth.

The Knicks never got close than 12 in the final frame.
