NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Utah
(Saturday, April 11th)
Final Score: Golden State 118, Utah 108
Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - C.J. Watson poured in a career-high 38 points, doled out nine assists and hauled in seven rebounds to help the Golden State Warriors upend the Utah Jazz, 118-108, at EnergySolutions Arena.
Robert Kurz donated a career-best 21 points and Kelenna Azubuike scored 18 for the Warriors, who have won four of their last six. Anthony Morrow ended with 13 points and Anthony Randolph 11 in the win.
Deron Williams gave 26 points and 14 helpers for Utah, which dropped its third straight and sixth in seven tries. Carlos Boozer had 25 points and 12 boards in the setback. Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko scored 18 and 10, respectively.
"It's tough," Boozer said of the loss. "Obviously we want to win every game we play in so it's the worst thing to lose the game, especially when you're going into the playoffs. You don't want to go into it like this on a losing streak. We've got two games left to right that."
Utah is 1 1/2 games behind idle New Orleans and Dallas, which are tied in the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoff picture.
The Jazz were up 31-28 after the first quarter but the Warriors grabbed a 64-51 lead at the break.
Golden State's lead hovered around 13 for most of the third, but the Warriors outscored the Jazz 6-2 to close out the period. Andris Biedrins' layup closed out the surge and gave the visitors a 93-76 lead headed to the fourth.
The Warriors held on through the final 12 minutes.
"We just wanted to come in and play hard, play tough and match their intensity," said Watson. "They play pretty hard at home, but we came out, played hard and fought for the win. We want to play loose and play fast, that's what we've been doing, and we played solid defense."
