NBA Game Summary - Orlando at Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard notched his 59th double-double of the year with 21 points and 23 rebounds, as the Orlando Magic staved off a hungry Atlanta Hawks squad to take an 88-82 victory at Philips Arena.
Rashard Lewis added 16 points and Rafer Alston 14 for the Magic, who won their second straight game and eighth in nine tries. Hedo Turkoglu ended with 12 points in the win.
J.J. Redick went 3-for-5 from three-point range en route to 11 points for Orlando, which is four games behind Cleveland for first place in the Eastern Conference playoff picture and one-half game behind Boston for the second spot.
Josh Smith had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Al Horford donated 13 points and 13 boards for the Hawks, who dropped their third straight game and fifth in six tries. Joe Johnson recorded 21 points and nine boards, while Mike Bibby and Flip Murray gave 12 points each.
Atlanta is situated in fourth place in the East, holding a two-game lead over Philadelphia and Miami.
Courtney Lee opened the fourth with a three-pointer, Tony Battie then offered a jumper and Howard's turnaround jumper gave the Magic a 69-61 lead with 10:13 left to play.
"I was going to rest him, I was going to give him a minute to start the fourth quarter," said Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy of Howard, who played 40:42. "I probably shouldn't have played him that much, but we have two days between games."
Moments later, Redick hit a three and Anthony Johnson drained a jumper to make it 76-65.
An 8-0 Atlanta run got the Hawks within 85-80 as Johnson poured in a reverse layup with about 23 seconds left and, after Alston went 0-for-2 from the line, Murray hit a pair from the charity stripe to make it 85-82 with 13.6 ticks left.
Lewis then hit two free throws to make it a five-point game with 12.8 seconds showing, and Orlando held on from there.
The Magic led, 22-18, after the first quarter, but the Hawks grabbed a 44-40 advantage at the break.
Smith's jumper and Maurice Evans' two free throws gave the Hawks a 48-40 lead early in the third.
With the Magic trailing by 10 midway through the third, Lewis nailed a three- pointer to set the tone for Orlando to outscore the hosts 15-4 the rest of third period. Lewis had seven of the Magic's points, including the jumper that closed it out to send the visitors in to the final 12 minutes with a 62-61 edge.
"We had 'em right where we wanted 'em," said Smith. "But we couldn't stop them from getting second-chance points."
Orlando shot 38 percent from the field, while Atlanta hit at a 39 percent clip...It was Howard's ninth 20-20 game...It was Smith's 19th double-double and Horford's 18th on the year...The Magic took the season series, 3-1...Orlando, which is 27-11 on the road, has won three straight over the Hawks and notched its third straight win in Atlanta, where the Hawks are 29-10 this season.
