NBA Game Summary - Phoenix at Washington

(Monday, January 26th)

Final Score: Phoenix 103, Washington 87

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Shaquille O'Neal had 29 points and eight rebounds as the Phoenix Suns dominated the Washington Wizards, 103-87, at Verizon Center.

Leandro Barbosa had 23 points while Amare Stoudemire added 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Suns, who finished a six-game road trip with a mark of 3-3.

"We got in a great rhythm and did a good job at the end of the game," said Barbosa. "We were able to manage well with a couple of teams on this road trip and come out with some wins.

Antawn Jamison had 27 points and 13 rebounds while Caron Butler donated 28 points and six boards for the Wizards, who have dropped three straight.

"Obviously it was tough," said Butler. "It's gonna happen sometimes, but we're gonna go out every night and perform at the highest level and eventually the wins will come."

Holding a two-point lead to start the fourth quarter, the Suns got a layup from O'Neal and a three-pointer from Barbosa to make it an 82-75 game with 9:22 to play.

Washington kept the game within five points for a little bit, but Barbosa drained a three-ball for an 87-79 lead with under eight minutes to play.

The score stayed that way for close to three minutes before O'Neal's hook shot gave his team a 10-point lead with 5:16 to play.

The Wizards were unable to get closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Suns cruised to the win.

Courtesy of 15 points from Jamison, the Wizards had a slim 24-22 lead after 12 minutes of play, but the Suns, courtesy of nine points from O'Neal, answered in the second quarter to tie the game at 51-all heading into the locker room.

Phoenix came out of the locker room with a 9-3 run to take a 60-54 lead on Jason Richardson's layup a bit less than four minutes in.

The Suns built their lead to eight points on a Stoudemire jumper with 5:20 left in the third, but the Wizards answered with an 8-2 run to cut into the deficit and Phoenix eventually took a 75-73 lead into the final quarter.
