NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Boston

(Sunday, January 25th)

Final Score: Boston 124, Dallas 100

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Eddie House each scored 23 points, as the Boston Celtics cruised to their eighth straight win, a 124-100 destruction of the Dallas Mavericks.

Rajon Rondo finished with 14 assists, 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Boston, which still has a way to go to match its longest win streak of the season -- a 19-game stretch from November 15 to December 23.

The Celtics, who improved to 22-2 at home this season, shot 53.8 percent from the floor overall, and 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from three-point range.

Jason Terry had 27 points to pace the Mavericks, who suffered their second blowout loss in their last three games. Dallas dropped a 133-99 decision to Milwaukee on Wednesday before winning Friday at Detroit.

Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard each scored 18 points in the loss.

The teams played back-and-forth to start the first quarter, but Boston seized control of the game with a 12-0 burst late in the frame that included seven points from Garnett.

Allen capped the run with a layup for a 27-14 Celtics lead, and they extended the advantage to 33-17 with just under a minute remaining.

Boston led 38-23 going into the second, and used another extended run -- 15-0 -- to pull away further. Allen had five points in the stretch, and Rondo added four, including the jumper to end it, pushing Boston's lead to 58-31 at the midway point of the stanza.

The Celtics cruised into halftime leading 74-47, having shot 10-for-13 from three-point range in the first half and over 65 percent from the floor overall.

Boston opened the third quarter with eight consecutive points, going ahead 82-47, and cruised in the second half. The Celtics led 103-78 after three quarters, and didn't see their lead dip under 20 points the rest of the fourth.
