NBA Game Summary - Boston at Memphis

(Saturday, March 21st)

Final Score: Boston 105, Memphis 87

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Glen Davis had a team-high 24 points, as the Boston Celtics used a strong second half to crush the Memphis Grizzlies, 105-87, at FedEx Forum.

Ray Allen added 20 points for the Celtics, who have won three in a row since dropping four of five. Kevin Garnett, who returned to Boston's lineup Friday against San Antonio after missing a month with a knee strain, scored 10 points in 17 minutes.

"He's getting better and better," Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said of Garnett. "Clearly he could have played more. Today he was a little frustrated when we took him out. I had to call a timeout just to get the clock to stop. That's a good sign because he's not sore at all. So, the next step will be the next game."

Eddie House added 15 points in Celtics' win.

Hakim Warrick had 20 points to pace Memphis, whose losing streak reached four games. Rudy Gay scored 15 points, while Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo each scored 12 for the Grizzlies, who have also lost eight of nine overall.

"They just picked it up offensively," Gay said of Boston in the second half. "They moved the ball, knocked down some pretty open shots."

The teams were tied at 21 after the first quarter, and Boston held a 52-48 edge at halftime.

The Celtics continued to hold a slight lead in the third before starting to pull away with a 10-0 run. Garnett had a pair of jumpers in the stretch, which Kendrick Perkins' basket ended for a 72-59 Boston lead with a little under four minutes to go.

Boston went into the fourth quarter ahead 78-65, then opened the final stanza with a 14-4 run to blow the game apart. Davis had seven points, including two foul shots that ended the surge, as the Celtics assumed a 92-69 lead and cruised to the finish.
